Rancho Viejo
There are a few of these in town. Casual, very affordable authentic Mexican food spot just one block up from the boat dock on Marquez de Leon and B. Domingues. One block over on Pinada is their Mexican/Seafood restaurant (Marisco’s) with great atmosphere and nice views from the upstairs deck
Bandidos
Fun burger restaurant where they cook on a grill inside of the hood of a car. All outside seating. Normal hours are from 5pm until midnight and usually doesn’t get crowded until 8 or 9pm. Located just a couple blocks south (to the right) of the Malecon, on the corner of Topete and Navarro.
La Costa
Seafood place on the beach just opposite of Bandidos on Navarro. Great authentic Mexican seafood place with good service—but don’t be in a hurry.
The Dock
Good inexpensive spot for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Just one block south (right) of the boat dock. Seafood, Mexican and American food in good atmosphere at the marina. Order the fish and chips off the appetizer menu. Bring your catch of the day and they will prepare it for you.
La Fonda
Inexpensive, authentic Mexican place on Bravo and Revolucion. Big place, usually lots of people and open for lunch and dinner. Don’t expect to have a quick meal. Food/service takes a while.
Buffalo’s
Great barbeque place—steaks, chicken, etc. Spendy for La Paz but very worth it if you want a good meal. Located on Madero and 5 of Mayo
Café Capri
Spot just to the right when you get off the boat at the dock. Decent food and drinks with a good atmosphere
Tailhunters
Down the Malecon a ways but good food and great atmosphere. They will arrange fishing trips and excursions as well.
Las 3 Virgenes (The Three Virgins)
Very nice restaurant with good food, environment, wines, and service. Probably the most expensive on our list but good spot for a special occasion. Located on Constitucion and Madero.
Il Rustico
Good spot for authentic Italian food. Pizza, pasta, seafood, etc located on Rosales and Revolucion.
Los Magueyes
Affordable, authentic Mexican food on Allende and Prieto. Good place for large groups of people. Great food and good service.
Bismark Citi
Seafood restaurant on the Malecon. Go for the fish tacos at lunch—not dinner. Open eating, decent food but you’ll pay a bit more for the location. Cash or check only (US dollars were accepted at a decent exchange rate).
Palermo
Italian restaurant on the Malecon. We haven’t eaten there but people say it’s good.
Apostolis
On Calle Madero downtown. Great Greek food and super lamb. Eat outside in the cozy courtyard
Nym
Opposite the 7 Crowns hotel downtown, on Revolucion. Recently opened and booming. Great food and some different dishes. Moroccan lamb tagine… TDF
Trocadero
On Revolucion and Morelos. Another one with a different menu, really well cooked, wine can be pricey. Ambience is mature, like a French bistro, with a lovely bar.
Zoe
On Allende one block up from Malecon, left hand side). Delicious food – eclectic menu from fish specials in red Thai curry to Swiss roesti.
Toro Guero
Large palapa on Abasolo towards the supermarkets (go right from boat dock), has excellent dishes. If you like shrimps, get a Festival de Camarones and share it. Plenty of noisy atmosphere, always busy and fun
Survivor Bar
Definitely our favorite! This is the pool bar restaurant at Paraiso del Mar. Sergio and crew will cook up some of the best food in the City. Daily fresh specials. Will host large parties upon request and will cook your freshly caught fish. Open for lunch and dinner every day except Mondays. They DO NOT accept credit cards so be sure to bring enough cash—either USD or pesos.
