The 2-bdrm condo at Paraiso del Mar (E402) was exactly as portrayed, in pristine condition and tastefully decorated with perfect views of Sea of Cortez, LaPaz, the pool, and landscaped grounds. The unit furnishings, comfy patio furniture, decor, bedding and kitchen accoutrements were perfect. The resort amenities were great and the staff was top notch! Property manager Chelle provided excellent support, and answered many, many questions; she connected us with a driver from the airport with a stop for groceries, and a golf cart to rent.
Since most units are owner-occupied, the occupancy was light and the resort was very quiet during our off-peak stay. The pool is huge and clean with a swim-up bar and hot tub. Kayaks and paddle boards are on the sandy beach in front of the condos. Golf clubs are available to rent; although minimally maintained, it is a nice course, reasonably priced, and fun to play. Tennis courts are well-maintained. Yoga is held poolside. The pool bar has incredible food and friendly staff with a regular menu and daily specials; the food is better than you'll find anywhere. We rented a golf cart to get around the resort, or sometimes just bummed a ride with a passer-by, but our unit had a local cell phone for our use and calling transportation for a ride was easy. Taking the shuttle boat to town was always fun and a nice way to meet others. The shuttle drops you off at Marina Cortez on the Malecon in downtown LaPaz. You can walk to many restaurants, nearby marinas, find taxis, rental cars and trips to Espiritu Santo or fishing all within blocks. Groceries are more easily acquired via taxi, but there is always one near the dock; the drivers are kind and helpful and will wait while you get your groceries. Nearest large groceries are Chedraui and Mega. Downtown are two indoor markets with fresh fish, vegetables, tortillas and much more. LaPaz is a safe and friendly city - non-touristy with many longtime resident and boating gringos
